I woke up at 5:00am to get to the triathlon so I’m pretty sleepy right now! The triathlon was awesome. It was so weird remembering back when I did it, how I was honestly possibly dead last (my final run time didn’t even register because they’d started putting away the mats…) and comparing that to now and just wow. Anyway my sister and I both marked all the triathletes and duathletes with permanent marker, noting their number and age. If you’re into beautiful men who wear spandex and shave their legs, I highly recommend this form of philanthropy. Also, EVERYONE LOOKED SO YOUNG. They all had to tell me their age so I could mark them, and there were all these women in their fifties who I honestly thought were 35, at the oldest. There was a woman who was SIXTY SEVEN, looked forty, and had the body of a 19 year old, I mean perfect, toned muscles NOTHING sagging, everyone just looked so freaking healthy and great and awesome which was so inspiring. After all the marking was done we just screamed our lungs out :) It was so amazing really seeing the difference we made. Like one guy was just looking exhausted, about .1m from the finish, and I was like “YOU ARE ALMOST THERE. JUST DO IT, PUSH IT, THE FASTER YOU RUN THE SOONER YOU’RE DONE!!” and we made eye contact and I saw the thought register in head and he nodded at me and said “Okay, why not?!” and picked it up and by the time he got to the finish he was SPRINTING and I was chasing after him cheering and so proud hehe <3 Also every time I saw two people right by each other at the finish I’d be like, “Come on, push each other!! Finish strong!!” and more often than not they’d start smiling and pushing the pace and finish with that extra oomph :) It was so nice volunteering with my sister and we turned it into a girls day, with a post-race brunch at Bob Evans (veggie omelette with egg whites, slice wheat toast, fruit cup) followed by an impromptu trip to a random mall near the triathlon…which of course meant Auntie Anne’s. I got pretzel stix without butter and they made the PERFECT pre-workout snack (carbsss) which you can read about in my next post… :)))))
